A few years ago I was working for a large credit union in the marketing department. The depression hit and we struggled. I was laid off and unsure of what direction to take my career in. I still hadn’t realized this superpower of improving online sales systems yet.

I had glimpses, but it hadn’t blossomed yet. So I was applying for jobs and feeling very disinterested when a friend of mine asked to look at her sales page and give her feedback.

Do you remember the scene in “The Beautiful Mind” with Russell Crowe when the equations were spinning around in his head, he got all frantic until he stumbled upon his amazing equation? If you haven’t seen it, that’s ok. You get the picture.

Everything clicked for me. It’s what Malcolm Gladwell likes to call the Tipping Point. I knew exactly what she needed to do to increase sales.

So here is the interesting thing: You know that you could improve your ability to connect with visitors, but just thinking about it can feel frustrating. I get it. Most of my clients would rather get a root canal than look at all the different aspects of their UX and CX to increase sales and make customers happier.

It can actually be fun. I worked with a client that struggled to see any consistency in her sales. She was doing so many good things, but the connection wasn’t quite there. A few of her systems needing tweaking. We talked about here core values, how to express them on her website, email, and social media. We created a domino effect that tipped each person from each main section of her site into her sales funnel. Once she relaxed with the process she began to have fun. The sales came easier.   • Dig through your website analytics to get a deep understanding of where people are coming from and what they are looking for.
