Every service-based business relies on building connections. The more people that know, like and trust you the more chances you have of growing your business.

I wanted to share Ryan Smith’s wisdom of building up his photography business from the ground up without spending money on advertising. This interview will give you insights into the process of building connections, making good impression and developing a personal relationship with potential clients.

You may want to tweet, Facebook or Google+ about the great tips, ideas and insights that you’ve heard. I made it easy by pulling out some great quotes from Ryan that your other business owner friends would like.

The best quotes from the interview were:

Click to Tweet (CtT)  – “My personality is what really sets me apart from other photographers, finding common ground is how I gain a new client.”

CtT – “Remembering little things about a person is what helps me build a personal relationship.”

CtT – “The secret to happiness is pick out one little thing and figure out how to enjoy one little part of that task.”

In this interview you’ll learn:

  1. Why your personality is so important to building your connections.
  2. How to remember little details of a person to develop your connection.
  3. How to separate yourself from the rest of your industry.

Great interview, Karl! This reinforced much that I already know as far as managing the connections over time. Still, the best take-away, I think is this:

“My personality is what really sets me apart from other photographers, finding common ground is how I gain a new client.”

As a personal branding guy, this really resonates!
