Our Core Values

The culture that we create here at Domino Connection is based on our core values. We want every employee, customer, and vendor to help us create a happier work environment. We expect people to be passionate, focused and work from their strengths. We like to think of this as leveraging their superpowers in their career.

As we’ve grown this small business we want everyone to understand that we believe in connecting through our values. We choose to work with people who believe in similar values as us. We do this because we like to establish deep and meaningful relationships that are based on trust.

Because we believe so strongly in our core values we also get a thrill at helping companies uncover their core values as well. We believe that every organization should use their core values in every facet of their business. Core values are the foundation for great marketing, company culture and passionate customers.

Our 10 core values that we live by:

  1. Pursue Challenges
  2. Be Helpful and Curious
  3. Be Open Minded and Focused
  4. Have Fun and Be Quirky
  5. Do More with Less
  6. Strive for Constant Improvement, Creativity and Passion
  7. Build Positive and Honest Relationships
  8. Stay Connected and Understand Your Why
  9. Be Your Own Boss
  10. Create Positive Relationships

We want every employee to embrace these values and use them to help improve their lives and our company culture.

1. Pursue Challenges

Your personal growth helps us grow. If you aren’t taking on challenges that make you feel a little uncomfortable then you aren’t leading your own life. By working on projects that stretch your imagination you are willing to take risks that encourage positive growth.

Change is a part of every culture and must be pursued to stay up on the latest information and new techniques to help people become happier at work.

2. Be Helpful and Curious

Being helpful allows you to step outside your normal tasks and ideas and help someone else in need.

The concepts we implement must be based on research and testing. Be it personal research and testing that you’ve conducted or that you’ve read and assimilated to help others. We need to make sure every idea has basis in real world application, so other when we implement an idea within a business it has a great chance at succeeding. Stay curious about your topic and dig deep to find out why you uncovered what you discovered.

3. Be Open Minded and Focused

Every person you deal with at Domino Connection has their own ideas. It’s your job to listen to each other and the client with care, but it’s not your job to support every idea. Not every idea is a good fit for Domino Connection and we need critical thinkers who make sure we stay focused on what will make the biggest and most efficient impact on our goals.

4. Have Fun and Be Quirky

If you aren’t having fun at Domino Connection you need to talk to someone, figure out why and create an actionable plan to change this. It could be a simple as allowing more of you (all your quirkiness) to be present in your work. Everyone of us is weird and quirky. The more we can express this the easier it is to communicate with the people around us. You must always be thinking how can I make this fun and allow all my quirkiness to come shining through.

5. Do More with Less

We are trying to create movements that spread from brother to mom to cousin to neighbor to best friend. We don’t want to spend  a lot of advertising dollars. You must always be aware that your time is more valuable than anything else in this world, which means only working on important projects. You must also be aware that spending every dollar that we do must be spent wisely and with care.

6. Strive for Constant Improvement, Creativity and Passion

Every person helping out with Domino Connection must look at every system and see how it could be improved. If there is a way to save someone 20 minutes each day then let’s implement it as fast as we can.

You should also be passionate about your work. If you feel lethargic then take a break. If the work doesn’t fit you then you need to talk to someone about why and how we can fix this. Your passion for making people happier will help you to strive for constant improvement and creativity.

7. Build Positive and Honest Relationships

Everyone person you interact at associated with Domino Connection (client, reader, customer, intern, etc.) must start with building an open and honest relationship. We expect everyone to be able to appreciate feedback. We want everyone to be as positive as they can be, but we also want people to be honest and not take criticism personally. We are all here to help each other become smarter, stronger and happier.

You need to know what is expected of you as well as what you expect of other’s. If you feel unclear about anything it’s your right to ask for clarity and help until you feel confident in your next step.

We are on this journey together to help each other grow. Staying positive and encouraging is much more enjoyable than playing organizational politics. Be aware when you feel like something isn’t a good fit at Domino Connection. Don’t be afraid to say something, step up and do it in the most positive way possible.

8. Stay Connected and Understand Your Why

Relationships are the basis of all great work environments. Relationship with other people and the relationship that you have with your work. If you feel connected to something greater than yourself it’s easy to stay motivated. If you feel connected to a co-worker you work hard to make sure that you help them as much as you can. At the end of each day, month and year. It’s the connections that we have that matter the most to us. We must always figure out a way to stay connected to why we do what we do and why it matters to other people.

9. Be Your Own Boss

You have a right to make your work at Domino Connection the most pleasurable and enjoyable as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else. If you see a problem, fix it. If you see a problem and need help then go to someone with a plan that will allow them to help you solve the issue. If the other person feels the plan is good then implement it. You should feel empowered by your work, not scared to make mistakes. We are here to help make people happier, more productive and engaged with their work and colleagues. Mistakes happen and are a part of every forward thinking business.

10. Create Positive Relationships

We believe relationships should be positive. We don’t like working with assholes who try to bully others to get what they want. If this occurs we expect his/her co-workers to set him/her straight. If s/he still doesn’t get after giving the chance to learn how to develop positive relationships then s/he will be let go.

Positive relationships supporter personal and career growth, which helps the company grow. That’s why we encourage people to share compliments as often and in as much detail as possible.

Flexible Ideas

As we grow this company we expect our core values to be flexible as our needs and clients’ needs change. Once a year we talk about how our core values can be improved. This is a living document that helps guide every decision we make.
